Event Description
In 2012 the Euro crisis was at its peak, and everyone was talking about Grexit (Greece exit of the EU). Fast forward four years, it is 2016 and Europe is going through a volatile year thanks to few geopolitical and macro-economic events. Brexit (Britain exit of the EU) is one of these main events, which number of key stakeholders across Europe are toiling hard to stop it.
Brexit, can save Britain few billions in benefits and government expenditure. But it also mean Britain losing many few billions as it will cut tax free ties with half its trade clients. The financial services market and its supporting industries (Fintech, Cyber Security and Insurance) will most likely get shaken. With the public referendum for Brexit in June is fast approaching, Technology and Finance Society is keen to open the floor to our society members to join the debate and get their voice heard. The society plans to host a panel of experts to discuss the implication of Britain leaving the EU on the financial services market and tech. industry (Fintech and Cyber Security) in the UK and the EU. Followed by members’ debate and public discussion before our usual closing with refreshments and networking.
